Pinterest creates business pages

Almost since it began, businesses have been taking advantage of Pinterest. As a result, like other social media sites, Pinterest has created business accounts. Unlike the other sites, there isn’t a huge amount of difference between business and regular accounts.  The biggest difference, right now, is that you can (and should) verify your web site’s domain and therefore post it prominently on your account.  Also, there is some increased search functi0narlity. I imagine more changes will come in the future that will make the business pages even more valuable, so if you have a Pinterest account for your business, you might as well go through the conversion process.  It is pretty painless.

1. Navigate to business.pinterest.com

2. Just fill out the information and walk through the process.

3. Next you will be asked to verify your domain name. This is important because, as I mentioned, this is what activates the increased visibility of your web address.  For example, here is a banner now available on Lowenthal & Abrams’ account, which I just converted today.  The main difference is the inclusion of the domain name with a check next to it. Links are valuable things. A link from Pinterest with a well utilized business account is definitely a valuable SEO resource.

There are two ways to verify your domain name. The first involves uploading a file to your web server. The second involves adding some text to the back end of your site. I used the ftp upload and it worked on the first try.

That’s it. Now you have a business account instead of a personal account.
